With the heaviest of hearts, I am writing to invite you to a Memorial Service for our dear, gracious. glorious Lanna. Nothing to bring, just your memories of this girl as we share the joy she brought to us - in her antics, her love of being hugged, and the baby she blessed us with. Let's meet at 8am, in the quiet of the morning, to remember her and thank the dear Lord for the gift of her. Amen.

Dear Lanna is once again caring and protecting the little mare that depended upon her so - Liz-Beth. This morning we laid Lanna to rest with her back to the North Winds and her face toward her pal. It is serene and quiet here at THE FARM. Jeri-Ann is hiding in the big barn - not coming out once during the morning until after her Mama was resting. Liz-Beth is smiling at how gently Dan placed Lanna next to her.
Truly, these two mares are once again together and honestly resting. Neither one of them is waiting any longer.

Gracie has been through this journey before and so she is at the bale, calm and quiet. Miss April continues to stand by her friend's spot and call for her. And The New Guy continues to search the yard for his beautiful, new Girlfriend. This is only the second day. By Sunday morning, they will accept and move on.
So much to learn from these remarkable Teachers.

My heart was overflowing with the love and respect shown for this mare for her Memorial Service. We talked of her arrival, her baby surprise, and her general loving and gentle spirit. We talked of her loving to be scratched under her mane and the face and swaying that she would offer when someone took the time to scratch her. And that hair! That mane and tale that took our breath away!
We looked at the date of her arrival, her giving birth, and her crossing and we were grateful for the time she spent with us.
Closing with prayer, we gave thanksgiving for this gift of Lanna and asked for courage and faith to continue what she taught us. Amen!

A very thoughtful woman stopped over yesterday late afternoon and brought some HUGE allium drumstick bulbs for Lanna. Since Lanna hasn't settled yet, I'll stick these bulbs in the black dirt pile and let them grow there until Lanna is ready to receive them. How appropriate! Tall, stately, soft to touch, and standing out in the garden. Just like Big Lanna. How kind and thoughtful.
Thank you for the gift and the thought put behind the gift. Very kind and special in memory of glorious mare, Lanna.
